Change or remove what a contractor can see

Take back a shared item or file, give a contractor a new access code, or remove them from a project.

Who can do this: admins and managersUpdated

You can narrow what a contractor sees at any time. They are not told when you take access away.

Take back one item or file

  1. On the Contractors tab, click the contractor's card to open it.
  2. Under Shared items or Shared files, hover over the one to remove and click the bin.
  3. Click Remove.

Give a contractor a new access code

  1. Click the gear on the contractor's card to open Contractor profile.
  2. Under Access code, click New.
  3. Copy the new code and send it to the contractor.

Remove a contractor from the project

  1. Open Contractor profile.
  2. Under Danger zone, click Remove from project and confirm.

What happens next

  • A removed item or file disappears from the contractor's portal straight away.
  • A new access code stops the old one working and also becomes the contractor's password, on every project they have with your studio. Use it if a code has been shared too widely.
  • Removing a contractor from the project ends their access to its shared items and drawings. They stay in your studio's contacts, and their message topic is archived with its history kept.

Good to know

  • A contractor who has set their own password keeps it until you click New.
  • To pause access for every contractor at once, turn off Enable contractor portal for the project.
