Upload a new version of a file

Replace a file with an updated copy while keeping every earlier version, and restore an old one.

Who can do this: admins and managersUpdated

New versions keep the file's name, sharing and restrictions. Older versions stay in the file's history.

Steps

  1. On the Files tab, open the file's … menu and choose Upload new version.
  2. In Update version, drop the new file or click browse.
  3. Describe the change in What changed in v2? (the number matches the next version). This is required.
  4. Click Save as v2.

What happens next

  • The file shows a v2 badge.
  • Anyone the file is shared with, including the client and contractors, sees the new version straight away.
  • PDF markup stays with the version it was made on. The new version opens clean.
  • Nobody is notified.

See or restore an earlier version

  1. Open the file's … menu, choose Info, then Versions.
  2. Click the download button on a version to open it, or the restore button to bring it back.

Restoring makes a new version, noted "Restored from v1". Nothing is deleted.

Good to know

  • The file keeps its name, even if the new upload is called something else.
  • Each version counts towards your studio's storage.
