What moves between Techstyles and Xero
Which documents and changes go to Xero, which come back, and what Xero does not send to Techstyles.
Techstyles treats Xero as the place your accountant works. Money-related actions you take in Techstyles are recorded in Xero first, so the two never disagree.
From Techstyles to Xero

From Xero to Techstyles
- Payments recorded in Xero against a synced invoice. They show Xero as the source.
- Credit notes applied in Xero. The invoice shows Credited in Xero and its amount due drops. If a credit note cancels the invoice in full, the invoice becomes Void.
- Approval: a draft approved in Xero becomes Sent.
- Voids and deletions made in Xero are made in Techstyles too.
Changes reach Techstyles when Xero notifies it. Techstyles also re-checks open invoices regularly to catch anything missed.
What doesn't come back from Xero
- Changes to purchase orders made in Xero
- Contacts, bank transactions and tracking categories
- Invoices created directly in Xero
Good to know
- If Xero has approved or paid a document, it won't accept an edit. The Sync column shows Locked in Xero.
- While Xero is disconnected nothing is sent. Documents saved in that time show Xero off until you sync them.
