Choose what each role can do
Use the permissions matrix to decide what managers and members can view, edit and delete.
Each person has one role: Admin, Manager or Member. Admins always have full access. For managers and members, you choose what they can do in each area.
Before you start
- You need to be a studio admin to change permissions.
Steps
- Go to Settings > Roles & permissions.
- In Permissions matrix, find the area, for example Clients ("CRM contacts and client records").
- Under Manager or Member, tick or untick View, Edit or Delete.
What happens next
- Each click saves straight away: "Permissions updated."
- Everyone with that role gets the change the next time they do anything.
- Unticking View also clears Edit and Delete for that area.
What each role starts with
| Area | Manager | Member |
|---|---|---|
| Projects | View, Edit | View |
| Tasks | View, Edit | View, Edit |
| Finance | View | None |
| Clients | View, Edit | View |
| Library | View, Edit | View |
| Team | View | Not available |
| Documents | View, Edit | View |
| Reports | View | None |
| Settings | None | Not available |
Good to know
- Edit and Delete need View first ("Enable view first").
- Reports has only View. Settings has only Edit.
- Members can never have Team or Settings. These cells show a dash.
- Leave the Admin column ticked. Unticking a box there hides menus from admins without limiting what they can do.
- Some studio settings can only be saved by an admin, even for a manager with Settings. Keep studio settings with admins.
- Techstyles AI and studio agents are for admins only. They are not in the matrix.
- Capacity access is not in the matrix either. Managers can see and edit the capacity plan; members can see their own weeks.
- There is no "reset to defaults" button. Use the table above to put things back.
- Someone who opens a page their role does not allow is taken back to Home, without a message.
