Add a supplier and their trade discount
Create a supplier while adding a product, with the email, currency and trade discount that purchase orders and pricing rely on.
Suppliers are contacts in Techstyles. Every product needs one before it can go on a purchase order, and the supplier's details decide where the purchase order is sent and what discount you get.
Steps
- In Library, click Add product, or open a product with Edit product.
- In Supplier, type the supplier's name.
- If they aren't found, click Add "…". The Add supplier form opens with the name filled in.
- Fill in First Name and Company Name. Both are required.
- Add the Email you send orders to.
- Choose the Currency they usually charge in.
- If they give your studio a trade discount, enter it in Trade Discount (%) or pick 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% or 80%.
- Add their address if you want it on your purchase orders.
- Click Add Supplier.
What happens next
- The supplier is chosen for the product.
- The supplier is also saved to your studio's contacts.
How Techstyles uses supplier details
| Detail | Used for |
|---|---|
| Company Name | Library cards, purchase orders and the PDF |
| First Name | The greeting in the purchase order email |
| Where Send to Supplier sends purchase orders | |
| Trade Discount (%) | Offered as the Supplier discount when you add their products to a project |
| Currency | Used for a purchase order when the product has no currency of its own |
| Address, Phone | Printed on the purchase order PDF |
Good to know
- The trade discount is copied onto each item when you add it to a project. Changing the supplier's discount later doesn't change items already on a schedule.
- If the email address is already used by another contact, you'll see This email is already in your CRM.
- Suppliers can also be added and edited in your studio's contacts.
