Archive or delete a task
Put a task away without losing it, bring it back, or delete it for good.
Archiving hides a task from your day-to-day views and keeps everything about it. Deleting removes it for good.
Before you start
- To archive, you need to have created the task, created or lead its project, or be a manager or admin.
- To delete, you need permission to delete tasks (admins by default). Otherwise you can delete a task you created, as long as it has no logged time and no comments.
Archive a task
- Open the task.
- Click Archive at the bottom of the drawer.
Bring an archived task back
- Open My Tasks and choose List.
- Click the Archived tab.
- Open the task and click Unarchive.
Delete a task
Deleting can't be undone. Archive when in doubt.
- Open the task and click Delete at the bottom of the drawer.
- Click Delete to confirm.
What happens next
- Archived: the task leaves My Tasks, the calendar, workload and due-date reminders. Logged time stays in reports. Nobody is notified.
- Deleted: the task, its comments and its history are removed. Time already logged is kept on the Time tracking page, under its note or "Untitled task".
Good to know
- Delete only shows if you are allowed to delete that task.
- Archived tasks are still listed on the project's Tasks board and Timeline.
- The Archived tab in My Tasks only lists tasks assigned to you.
