Connect Claude or another AI assistant
Use an API key to connect Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor or another MCP client to your studio, read-only.
Techstyles includes an MCP server, the standard way AI assistants connect to other tools. Once connected, you can ask your assistant things like "Which projects have procurement at risk?" and it reads the answer from Techstyles.
Before you start
- Create an API key and have it to hand.
Steps
- Go to Settings > AI and API access and find Connect an assistant.
- Choose the tab for your tool:
- Claude Code: copy the command and run it in your terminal.
- Claude Desktop: copy the snippet into Claude Desktop's configuration file, then restart Claude Desktop. It needs Node.js installed.
- Cursor and other MCP clients: copy the Server URL and the Header into your tool's MCP settings.
- Your own code: copy the example request. Every tool is also a plain web address you can call.
- Replace the placeholder key in what you copied with your own key.
- In your assistant, ask a question about your studio.
What happens next
- Your assistant lists the Techstyles tools it can use, all read-only.
- Each request reads with the permissions of the person who created the key.
- The key's Last used date updates in the keys table.
Good to know
- What you ask, and what Techstyles returns, is sent to the assistant you connect, under that assistant's own terms.
- Keys can't make changes, draft emails or search the contents of documents and messages.
- If you think a key has been shared too widely, revoke it.
