Invite a contractor to the portal
Email a contractor a link to the portal, and make sure they have a way to sign in.
The invitation email tells the contractor the portal is ready and links to it. What it contains depends on whether they already have sign-in details.
Before you start
- The contractor is on the project and has an email address. See Add a contractor to a project.
Steps
- Open the project and go to the Contractors tab.
- On the contractor's card, click More (the three dots) and choose Invite contractor.
- Check the Email Template Preview.
- Click Send Invitation.
- Click More again, choose Copy access code, and send the code to the contractor by text or email.
What happens next
- In Settings, then People, then Contractors, their status changes from Not invited to Invited, and to Joined once they open this project.
- A contractor added with Add contractor already has sign-in details (their access code), so they get "You have been added to [project name]". This email has no password in it, which is why step 5 matters.
- A contractor who has never had sign-in details gets "Your [studio name] contractor portal" with their email and a new password. That password is also their new access code.
- Their card shows Last accessed once they sign in.
Good to know
- Contractors can sign in with their access code alone, or with their email and the code as their password. They can set their own password with Forgot your password? on the sign-in page. There is no way to change it inside the portal.
- Inviting does not share anything. Share drawings, items and files separately.
- If the contractor says the email never arrived, see An invitation email hasn't arrived. The confirmation appears even if the email could not be delivered.
