Create a proposal

Start a fee proposal for a client, write the scope of work and terms, and save it as a draft.

Who can do this: admins and managersUpdated

A proposal brings together who it is for, the scope of work, your terms and your fees. The builder takes you through it in four steps: Client & Details, Scope of Work, Pricing and Review & Send.

Before you start

  • You need permission to edit clients.
  • The client must already be a Client contact.
  • Allow time to finish in one sitting. Leaving the page before you save loses your work.

Steps

  1. Go to CRM > Proposals and click New proposal. (Or click Create proposal on a lead in the Proposal column.)
  2. On Client & Details:
    • pick the Client;
    • enter a Proposal Title, or leave it to fill in as "Client name — Design Proposal";
    • choose the Currency and Valid Until date;
    • write a Cover Message.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. On Scope of Work, either type in Scope Description on Write Custom, or open Use Template and choose Residential Interior, Commercial Space or Hospitality Design as a starting point.
  5. Under Terms & Conditions, click Residential or Commercial to insert standard UK terms, then edit them, or type your own.
  6. Click Continue and price the proposal.
  7. On Review & Send, check the checklist, for example "6/6 sections complete".
  8. Click Save Draft.

What happens next

  • The proposal is saved as a draft and appears on the Proposals list.
  • Totals are worked out from the line items and tax rate.
  • Nothing is sent to the client.

Good to know

  • Save Draft stays disabled until the proposal has a title.
  • Using a scope template or a terms template replaces any text already there.
  • Click Preview at any point to see the whole proposal on one page.
  • Scope text is shown as you type it. Formatting symbols aren't turned into headings or bold.
