Upload files to a project

Add documents to a project's Files tab, optionally restricted to named people, with a note.

Who can do this: admins and managersUpdated

Upload drawings, specifications, presentations and any other project documents. Each file starts as version 1.

Before you start

  • You need permission to edit documents. Admins and managers have it by default.
  • Files can be up to 50 MB each.

Steps

  1. Open the project's Files tab and go into the folder you want.
  2. Click Upload.
  3. Drag files into the box, or click browse. Use + Add more to add more files.
  4. To rename a file before it uploads, click the pencil next to it.
  5. To limit who can see the files, choose Restricted under Who can access and tick the people.
  6. Add a note in Note (optional) if it helps. It is saved on every file in this upload.
  7. Click Upload. When every file shows a tick, click Done. Closing the dialog before that cancels the rest.

What happens next

  • The files appear in the folder. Restricted files show a Private badge.
  • Nobody is notified. To let the client or a contractor see them, share them. See Send files to the client.
  • Your studio's storage use goes up by the size of the files.

Good to know

  • If a file fails, see An upload failed.
  • Who can access and Note are not shown on a phone. Upload from a larger screen to restrict files as you add them.
