Comment on an item, internally or with the client

Discuss an item with your team in private, or message the client about it in a thread they can see.

Updated

Every item has two threads. Internal is for your team only. Client is shared with the client, who can read and reply in their portal.

Open an item's comments

Click the comment button at the end of the row. The number on it is the total number of comments. A dark dot means the client has written something you haven't read.

Comment internally

  1. Choose Internal.
  2. Type in the box. Type @ to mention someone on the project.
  3. To turn the comment into a to-do, switch on Subtask.
  4. Click Comment, or press ⌘ + Enter (Ctrl + Enter on Windows).

People you mention are notified. A subtask shows Mark complete, and once ticked, who completed it. Sort the thread by Most recent or Oldest.

Message the client

  1. Choose Client. The band at the top reminds you that the client can see everything in this thread.
  2. Type in Write to the client…. You can mention colleagues with @.
  3. To include a picture, click Add image. PNG, JPEG, WebP and GIF files under 10 MB each are accepted.
  4. Click Send. To answer a particular message, click Reply under it.

What happens next

  • The client is notified and gets an email about your message.
  • Opening the thread marks the client's messages as read and clears the dot.

Good to know

  • The Client thread only exists once the item is shared with the client. Turn on Client access for the project first.
  • You can edit or delete your own comments. Reasons recorded when an item was rejected or sent back for review can be edited but not deleted.
  • Client messages can be up to 5,000 characters.
  • Anyone in the studio who can open the project can comment. You don't need edit rights.
