Set lead times and required-by dates

Tell Techstyles when each item is needed on site and how long the supplier needs, so it can work out when to order.

Who can do this: admins and managersUpdated

Two numbers drive every warning on the schedule: the date an item is needed on site and the supplier's lead time. Set both and Techstyles fills in the Order by date for you.

Before you start

  • Show the Lead time column. It is hidden at first. Choose Columns in the toolbar and tick Lead time. Required by and Order by are shown already.

Steps

  1. Open the project and select Procurement.
  2. In Required by, click Set date (or the current date) and pick the day the item must be on site.
  3. In Lead time, type the supplier's lead time in whole weeks and press Enter. Leave it blank to clear it.
  4. Read the Order by column. It fills in on its own.

You can also make these changes in the item's details. Open the row's ⋯ menu, choose Details and go to the Order tab.

What happens next

  • Order by shows the date and the days left, such as 6 Nov 7d. It turns amber inside 10 days and red, with days late, once it has passed.
  • If the item isn't ordered and the order-by date is inside your studio's nudge window, the item turns At risk. See How install-date risk works.

Good to know

  • The date picker only offers dates between the project's start date and its installation date (or its end date if there is no installation date).
  • An item with no required-by date is flagged At risk with No required-by date set. Give every item a date.
  • Order by shows a dash until the item has both a required-by date and a lead time.
  • The order buffer and nudge window are set by a studio admin in Settings > Procurement.
  • To set the same date or lead time on several items, select them and use Actions > Update required-by date or Change lead time.
