Change a project's dates

Update the start, target completion and installation dates for a project.

Who can do this: admins and managersUpdated

A project's dates frame its phases. Phases that follow on from the start date move when you change it.

Before you start

  • You need permission to edit projects.
  • Check that the phase list on Schedule looks right before you save. If it shows No phases yet on a project you know has phases, do not save. Ask an admin to make the change, or to add you to the project team first.

Steps

  1. Open the project and click Settings.
  2. Choose Schedule.
  3. Under Project timeline, change the Start date, Target completion or Installation date.
  4. Click Save changes in the bar at the bottom of the section. Discard throws away every unsaved change in this section, including phase edits.

What happens next

  • Phases linked to the start of the project move with it.
  • The overview's Milestones card and the project's health use the new dates.

Good to know

  • Installation date is required. It can't be before the start date or after target completion.
  • Manage on the overview's Milestones card also opens this section.
