Add and edit phases

Add, change or remove the phases that make up a project's schedule and its task board columns.

Who can do this: admins and managersUpdated

Phases are the stages of a project, such as Concept or Installation. Each phase becomes a column on the project's task board and a milestone on the overview.

Before you start

  • You need permission to edit projects.
  • If Schedule shows No phases yet on a project you know has phases, do not save. Ask an admin to make the change, or to add you to the project team first.

Steps

  1. Open the project and click Settings, then Schedule.
  2. To add a phase, click Add phase. It starts when the last phase ends and lasts one week.
  3. To change a phase, click Edit phase and set:
    • Phase name and Description
    • How does this phase end?: By duration (with Duration and Unit) or Fixed end date
    • Phase budget and Budgeted hours
  4. To remove a phase, click Delete phase, type confirm and click Delete.
  5. Click Save changes.

What happens next

  • Nothing changes until you save.
  • New phases appear as columns on the Tasks board.
  • If you delete a phase, its tasks are kept but no longer belong to a phase.

Good to know

  • A start date marked From previous follows the phase before it. To set it yourself, change Depends on to Nothing. See Link phases and add gaps.
  • Budgeted hours feed the Time tracked figure on the overview.
  • Custom… durations are free text, so dates are not worked out from them.
  • Phases are listed in the order they were created and can't be reordered.
