Build project templates
Set up the phases and default tasks a new project starts with, so every project begins the same way.
A template is a ready-made project structure: a list of phases in order, each with its own default tasks. When you create a project from a template, its phases and tasks are added for you.
Before you start
- You need access to studio settings. New studios start with three templates: Residential Design, Commercial Fit-Out and FF&E Project. Edit these or add your own.
Create a template
- Go to Settings > Templates.
- Under Your templates, click New template.
- Type a name in Template name.
- Click Save template.
Add and order phases
- Select the template under Your templates.
- Click Add phase. A phase called "New phase" is added at the end and opened on the right. Deleting a phase with its bin icon deletes its default tasks too, with no confirmation and no undo.
- Rename it in Phase name.
- Drag phases by the handle to put them in order.
- Click Save template.
Add default tasks to a phase
- Click a phase.
- Under Default tasks, type in Add a task... and press Enter, or click +.
- To remove a task, click the x on its row.
What happens next
- The template appears when you create a project. See Create a project.
- Projects already created are not changed. A template is copied into a project when the project is created.
Delete a template
- Select it and click Delete template.
- Confirm with Delete.
The template and its phases are deleted for good. You can't delete your last template.
Good to know
- Some changes save straight away and some wait for Save template:
- Saved straight away: adding a phase, deleting a phase, adding a task, removing a task.
- Saved with Save template: the template name, phase names and phase order.
- Watch for Unsaved changes next to Save template. Switching to another template or leaving the page drops unsaved names and order without warning.
- To rename a default task, remove it and add it again.
- The task count on each phase updates when you reload the page.
