Start a timer on a task

Time a task straight from its card in My Tasks or on a project board, and switch between tasks.

Updated

Every open task you are assigned to has a small timer button next to its due date. Done tasks don't have one.

Steps

  1. Open My Tasks, or a project's Tasks board.
  2. On the task, click Start timer.
  3. When you stop work, click Stop timer on the same task. Marking a task done doesn't stop its timer, so the time keeps running until you click Stop timer, or use Complete in focus mode.
  4. To switch to another task, click Start timer on that task. The first timer stops for you.

What happens next

  • The task shows a pulsing dot and a ticking clock.
  • When you stop, the time is added to your Time Tracking page. Each start creates a new entry.
  • The task's status does not change.

Compare target and time logged

Hover the time on a card to see Target, You logged, Team logged, and Running while a timer is on. The running clock turns terracotta once the current session passes the target.
