Task notifications and reminders
What you are told about tasks, when, and which notifications you can turn off.
Task notifications arrive in your in-app notifications and, if you allow it, as browser notifications. There are no emails for tasks.
What you are told
| When | Who is told | Can you turn it off? |
|---|---|---|
| You are assigned to a task | Each new assignee | No |
| Someone comments on a task | The creator, assignees and earlier commenters | No |
| Someone mentions you in a comment | The person mentioned | Yes, Mentions |
| A task is due tomorrow | Each assignee, at 07:00 | Yes, Task reminders |
Changes to status, dates or priority, removing someone, archiving and deleting do not send notifications.
Turn off due-date reminders
- Open Settings and, under Account, choose Preferences.
- Switch off Task reminders ("The morning before a task of yours is due").
Good to know
- Clicking a task notification opens the task. Comment notifications open on Comments.
- Reminders only go out for tasks that have a due date, are not done and are not archived. There is no reminder on the day or once a task is overdue.
- When you create a task you are added as an assignee, so you may get an assignment notification for your own task.
