Assign people to a task
Add or remove the people on a task, and use the workload warnings to spot clashes.
Assignees see the task in My Tasks, can change its status, and can time it.
Before you start
- You can change assignees if you created the task, created or lead its project, or are a manager or admin.
- People must be on the task's project team to be assigned.
Steps
- Open the task.
- Next to Assignees, click Add.
- Search in Search teammates… and click each person to add them. Click a name again to take them off.
- To remove someone, click × on their chip.
- Click Save changes.
What happens next
- New assignees get an in-app notification. There is no email. People you remove are not told.
- The task's Activity records "assigned" and "unassigned".
Use the assignment warnings
Once a task has an assignee and a Due date, Techstyles checks the assignment. A box at the top of the drawer may tell you, for example, that someone already has several tasks due that week, or that the due date falls after the project's installation date.
If someone is over capacity, Who else could take it: lists colleagues with how booked they are. Click a name to add that person as well. The list is "Ranked on workload only. This does not assess skill."
Good to know
- Without a project, you can assign anyone in the studio.
- If you move a task to a different project, anyone not on the new project's team is taken off when you save.
- Clicking a suggested colleague adds them. It does not remove the person who was busy.
