Gmail, Slack or Calendar stopped working

Reconnect Google or Slack when they've dropped, and find out why emails, events or channel updates aren't coming through.

Updated

Gmail and Google Calendar share one connection to your Google account, and each person has their own. Slack is connected once for the whole studio. If you use Xero, see Fix a failed Xero sync.

Gmail or Google Calendar

It asks you to connect again

This is the most likely problem. Inbox shows Connect Gmail, the Calendar card on Home says Google Calendar not connected, or Force sync emails says "Please reconnect gmail". Google has stopped accepting the connection, for example because access was removed in your Google account, and Techstyles has dropped it.

  1. Allow pop-ups for Techstyles in your browser. Google's sign-in opens in a pop-up, and if it's blocked nothing seems to happen.
  2. Click Connect Gmail in Inbox, or Connect Google on Home.
  3. Choose your Google account and allow access.

The Inbox works, but a thread is missing

  • Only email with people who are contacts in CRM comes into Techstyles. Add the person as a contact and their past emails are linked in the background.
  • Techstyles brings in the last 90 days. Older mail stays in Gmail.
  • To check for new email now, click Force sync emails.

Your calendar is empty in one studio

Your Google connection belongs to the studio you made it in, so your calendar only shows there. Connecting from another studio moves it to that studio. Switch back to the studio you connected from, or connect again from the one you're in.

An event is wrong

The Calendar card shows Google events, not Techstyles tasks. Change events in Google Calendar.

Slack

The Slack card says Disconnected in Slack

The Techstyles app was removed from your workspace, so nothing is delivered. A studio admin goes to Settings > Integrations and clicks Reconnect on the Slack card. You need permission to add apps in Slack.

The Slack card says Update needed

Slack hasn't given Techstyles permission to read the channels you've connected. A studio admin clicks Reconnect. Your channel links, settings and history are all kept.

One project's channel has stopped

Open the project and go to Settings, then Integrations. If it says "Techstyles is not in #channel, so nothing is being delivered", Techstyles was removed from the channel, the channel was archived, or it's a private channel it can't see.

  1. In that channel in Slack, type /invite @Techstyles.
  2. Back in Techstyles, click Retry.

If the channel is gone, pick another under Channel. Only studio admins can change this. See Connect a project to a Slack channel.

The channel is connected but an update didn't post

Check the boxes under What this channel gets. Updates when a task is completed are off to start with. In Slack, type /techstyles status in the channel to see what it receives.
