Create a task
Add a task with its project, phase, dates, assignees and description in the task drawer.
The task drawer is where every task is created and edited. It opens from My Tasks, a project's Tasks tab and the calendar.
Before you start
- To add a task to a project from its Tasks tab you need permission to edit projects (admins and managers by default). Members can create project tasks from My Tasks.
- A project task must go in a phase. If the project has no phases yet, add them in the project's Settings › Schedule.
Steps
- In the sidebar, click My Tasks, then New task. Or on a project's Tasks tab, click New task, or + at the top of a phase column.
- Type a name in Task name….
- Click Project and pick a project, or No project.
- Click Phase and pick one. This is required once a project is set.
- Set Status, Priority, Start date and Due date as needed.
- Under Assignees, click Add and pick the people doing the work.
- Add any notes under Description, and checklist items under Subtasks.
- Click Create task.
What happens next
- The task appears on the board.
- You are added as an assignee.
- Each assignee gets an in-app notification that they have been assigned. There is no email.
- Billable starts at your studio's default.
- The task's Activity tab records "created this task".
Good to know
- Task names can be up to 60 characters.
- The due date can't be before the start date. Both can be the same day.
- A task needs both a start date and a due date to show on the calendar.
- Only people on the task's project are kept as assignees.
- Once anyone logs time on a task, only managers and admins can change its dates and Target time.
- Cancel, Esc or clicking outside the drawer closes it without saving.
- Comments and Activity become available once the task is saved.
