I deleted something: can I get it back?

What Techstyles can restore, what is gone for good, and what to do next.

Updated

Usually not. Techstyles has no bin and no undo: when you delete something, it's deleted. What you can bring back is anything you archived rather than deleted. So when in doubt, archive.

Things you can get back

WhatHow
An archived projectOpen it, open Danger zone in Settings and click Unarchive project. See Archive a project.
An archived taskMy Tasks > List > Archived, open the task and click Unarchive. The tab only lists tasks assigned to you. See Archive or delete a task.
Archived schedule itemsSwitch on Show archived in Filters, select them and choose Actions > Unarchive. See Move, copy, archive or remove items.
An earlier version of a fileRestore it from the file's versions. See Upload a new version of a file.
Files in a folder you deletedDeleting a folder doesn't delete what's in it. Those files and folders move to the top level of Files.
A message topic you archived for yourselfRestore it from the Archived section. See Create a message topic.
A payment you removedRecord it again.
A colleague you removedInvite them again. If it was their only studio their account was closed, so they start with a new one, and their old history stays with the old account.
A cancelled subscriptionRenew or subscribe again. Your data is still there.

Things that are gone for good

WhatWhat was lost, and what wasn't
A file or linkEvery version and all its PDF markup.
A drawing package or drawingEvery version, comment, share and history entry.
A projectIts messages and channels, meetings and transcripts, drawing packages and contractor actions. Its tasks, schedule items, purchase orders, invoices, documents and time logs are kept, but no longer linked to any project.
A contactTheir notes, their portal access, and drawing packages shared with them. Projects, invoices and purchase orders are kept but no longer linked to them. Add them again and re-invite them.
A taskThe task, its comments and its history. Time already logged is kept.
A comment, a subtask or a contact's noteAll of it.
A lead or a proposalAll of it.
A library productSchedule items that used it lose its name, image and price. Purchase order lines keep their own copy.
Items removed from a scheduleAll of them. Archive instead if they might come back.
An invoice you voided or deletedA void stays on record as Void. A deleted draft is gone. To bill again, create a new invoice.
A purchase orderThe order. Its items' status, lead time and dates are reset too, so check them on the schedule.
A logged time sessionThe session, with no record of who removed it.
A meeting noteThe note and its transcript. Tasks you added from it stay.
A chat with Atelier in TechstylesThe chat. Changes it made stay, and you reverse those in the app.

What to do now

  1. Look for a copy. Check your own downloads, anything you exported, and what your client or a contractor already has. A deleted invoice or purchase order may still be in Xero.
  2. Make it again from that copy.
  3. If you've lost something you can't recreate, email support straight away with your studio's name, what was deleted and roughly when. Nothing in Techstyles lets us promise it can be recovered, so don't rely on this.

Before you delete anything else

Archive projects, tasks and schedule items instead. If someone shouldn't be able to delete, an admin can take Delete away in Roles & permissions.
